How IBPS Calculates Your Age

Only your date of birth recorded in the Class 10 certificate or equivalent document is considered for eligibility. During document verification, IBPS verifies your age using official educational records. Any mismatch between the application form and supporting documents may lead to cancellation of candidature.

Quick Tip

Many candidates check only the maximum age limit and forget the official reference date (1 August 2026). Calculate your age using this date—not today’s date—and keep your Class 10 certificate ready as proof of date of birth during document verification.

Educational eligibility

IBPS Clerk 2026 Qualification and Graduation Percentage

A recognised graduation degree is mandatory, but the notification does not prescribe a minimum graduation percentage. Your final result must be declared on or before the official eligibility cut-off date.

Minimum qualification Graduation in any discipline

From a university recognised by the Government of India or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.

Result cut-off date 21 August 2026

The final graduation result must have been officially declared on or before this date.

Minimum percentage No minimum prescribed

Candidates must still calculate and enter their graduation percentage accurately in the application form.

Recognised degree requirement

The qualification must come from a recognised university, institution or regulatory-approved body.

Graduation in any discipline is accepted.
A Central Government-recognised equivalent qualification is also accepted.

Documents required while registering

The candidate must already possess valid proof of graduation when completing the online registration.

Valid graduation marksheet.
Degree or provisional degree certificate.
Proof showing the official result declaration date, where needed.

Final-year candidates

Final-year status alone is not enough. Eligibility depends on whether the university officially declares the result by 21 August 2026.

Result declared by the cut-off date: eligible, subject to all other conditions.
Result declared after the cut-off date: not educationally eligible for this cycle.

How to calculate graduation percentage for IBPS Clerk

Use the aggregate marks from all subjects across all semesters or years, even where the university awards class or honours based on selected subjects.

Percentage = Total Marks Obtained ÷ Aggregate Maximum Marks × 100
All subjects included Use every semester or year

Include honours, optional, additional and other subjects where they form part of the academic record.

CGPA / OGPA Use the university conversion rule

Keep documentary proof of the official conversion formula for document verification.

Decimal treatment Fractions are ignored

For example, 59.99% is treated as below 60%, and 54.99% as below 55%.

A result published after 21 August 2026 does not meet the cut-off

A later marksheet date or delayed university declaration cannot be treated as qualification available on the eligibility date. Keep an official document showing when the result was declared.

Special qualification provision for eligible ex-servicemen

Matriculate ex-servicemen without the standard civil graduation qualification may qualify if they hold the Army Special Certificate of Education or the corresponding Navy or Air Force certificate after at least 15 years of service. The relevant certificate must be dated on or before 21 August 2026.

Keep your qualification records ready before registration

Check your result date, marksheet, percentage calculation and supporting conversion certificate before entering graduation details in the application form.

Additional mandatory eligibility

IBPS Clerk Computer Knowledge and Local Language Rules

Graduation alone is not enough. Candidates must also possess working computer knowledge and satisfy the specified local-language requirement for the State or Union Territory selected in the application.

Computer literacy Mandatory

Evidence may come from a computer qualification or from having studied Computer or IT as a subject.

Local language Read, write, speak and understand

The applicable language depends on the State/UT selected for vacancies.

LLPT exemption Class 10 or higher language proof

Acceptable academic proof of studying the selected language may remove the need to take the language test.

Computer literacy

Is a computer certificate compulsory?

Computer literacy is compulsory, but the official notification allows more than one route for proving it.

Certificate in computer operations or computer language.
Diploma or degree in computer operations or computer language.
Computer or Information Technology studied as a subject in school, college or an institute.
Important distinction: a separate computer certificate is not necessary where the candidate can validly show that Computer or Information Technology was studied as an academic subject.
State/UT language eligibility

What local-language proficiency is required?

Candidates applying for vacancies in a particular State/UT should be proficient in the specified or selected local language applicable to that State/UT.

Ability to read the selected language.
Ability to write the selected language.
Ability to speak and understand the selected language.
One applicable language must be selected in the application form.

How the Local Language Proficiency Test works

The LLPT is connected to appointment eligibility, not merely application submission. Candidates should confirm their language route before choosing a vacancy State/UT.

1
Select the language while applying

Choose one language from the official list applicable to the selected State/UT.

2
Produce academic language proof

A Class 10 or higher marksheet or certificate showing the selected language may provide exemption from the LLPT.

3
Qualify the test when proof is unavailable

The LLPT is conducted after the Main examination or provisional allotment stage but before joining.

Failing the LLPT can stop appointment

The language test is qualifying in nature. Candidates who are required to take it and do not qualify will not be offered appointment and may be disqualified from the recruitment process.

Check these before choosing a vacancy State or UT

State selection should be based on both vacancy data and the candidate’s ability to satisfy the applicable language condition.

I checked the specified language list for the State/UT.
I can read, write, speak and understand the selected language.
I checked whether my Class 10 or higher record shows that language.
I understand that the chosen State/UT cannot later be changed.

Compare language eligibility with the State-wise vacancy list

Review your selected State’s vacancies and then verify the application fields, supporting records and final-submission rules before applying.
