RRB JE 2026: 3,993 Vacancies — Apply Online, Dates & Complete Guide
Railway Recruitment Boards have opened RRB JE/DMS 2026 applications for 3,993 vacancies. Apply online by 13 September 2026, 11:59 PM — but check your eligible posts, RRB and document requirements before submitting the form.
Official recruitment: Railway Recruitment Boards • CEN No. 04/2026
Don't choose an RRB just because it looks convenient. First check which JE/DMS posts you are educationally and medically eligible for. You can apply to only one RRB, and your chosen RRB cannot be changed after submission.
RRB JE 2026 Current Status: Applications Open
CEN 04/2026 is currently in the online application stage. Applications opened on 14 August 2026 and can be submitted until 13 September 2026 at 23:59.
Online Applications Open · Last Date 13 September 2026
Candidates can currently create/login to their RRB account, choose one RRB only, select eligible post preferences, complete live-photo capture, upload the prescribed signature and applicable document, pay the fee and submit the form.
RRB JE 2026 Recruitment Timeline
Check Eligibility → Prepare Files → Apply
The application window is active. Before submitting, verify your post eligibility and medical suitability, choose the RRB carefully, and prepare the signature and any applicable certificate file.
Application Closing → Fee → Correction
- 13 September 2026 Online application closes at 23:59
- 15 September 2026 Last date for fee payment for submitted applications
- 16–25 September 2026 Application modification window
- 26–30 September 2026 Scribe-details window for eligible candidates
Prepare the Files Before You Reach the Upload Step
RRB captures the photograph live. The signature is uploaded separately, while an SC/ST certificate PDF is relevant only to eligible candidates claiming the free Railway travel facility.
Do not wait for the last few days to apply. The notification itself advises candidates to submit early because heavy website traffic near the closing date can cause problems. More importantly, choose your RRB carefully—the selected RRB cannot be changed during the correction window.
Lifecycle update: During the application period this section stays focused on applying. On 16 September it can switch to Correction Window; after 25 September it can move to CBT-I Awaited. The rest of this RRB JE guide does not require rewriting at each stage.
Applying for RRB JE 2026? Check These Before You Hit Submit
The form is only one part of the process. Your RRB choice, qualification, medical suitability and uploaded signature can affect your candidature later, so verify the important decisions before final submission.
Choose Your One RRB Carefully
You can submit only one common application to one RRB. Multiple applications to the same or different RRBs can result in rejection, and the chosen RRB cannot later be changed.
Understand the application process →Match Your Qualification to the Right Post
JE eligibility is post-specific. You must already possess the prescribed educational or technical qualification by 13 September 2026. Candidates awaiting final results are not eligible.
Check RRB JE eligibility →Check the Medical Standard Before Choosing Posts
Different JE/DMS posts carry Railway medical standards such as A-3, B-1 or C-1. If you are medically unsuitable for the opted post, the CEN does not promise an alternative appointment.
Review medical eligibility →Get Your Signature File Ready
The required signature must be JPG/JPEG, 30–49 KB, minimum 140×60 px, scanned at minimum 100 DPI, using black ink on white paper in running handwriting.
Be Ready for the Live Photograph
RRB JE 2026 does not ask normal candidates to upload a pre-existing passport photo. The portal captures a live photograph using a webcam or front camera.
See photo & signature rules →Do Not Stop After Submitting the Form
After submission, complete the applicable online examination-fee payment. The CEN states that application acceptance occurs after confirmation of successful fee payment.
Continue on official RRB application portal ↗Where applicable, the certificate upload must be PDF only and below 400 KB.
Age may be simple. RRB JE qualification and medical eligibility are not.
The next section explains who can actually apply, how JE disciplines map to posts, what DMS accepts, and why medical standards should be checked before setting preferences.
Use your Class 10 certificate while entering account details. Name, parents' names and date of birth should match the prescribed record, while Create-an-Account details—including mobile number and email—cannot later be modified.
Can You Apply for RRB JE 2026? Check Age, Qualification & Medical Fit
The basic age limit is 18–33 years as on 1 January 2027, but qualification is post-specific. You must already hold the required qualification by 13 September 2026, and the Railway medical standard for your chosen post also matters.
Who Fits the Basic Age Window?
For the normal 18–33 years age group, the CEN gives the following date-of-birth boundaries.
Do Not Treat Every JE Post as the Same
RRB JE eligibility depends on the specific post/category. The prescribed diploma, degree or other technical qualification must already be held by the application closing date.
Waiting for final results?
The CEN states that candidates awaiting results of the prescribed
qualification are not eligible to apply.
Your Engineering Qualification Determines the CBT-II Technical Group
The CEN maps eligible qualifications into four technical exam groups. This mapping matters because Technical Abilities carries 100 marks in CBT-II.
Mechanical & Allied
Mechanical, Production, Automobile, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Industrial, Machining, Tools & related eligible streams.
Electrical & Allied
Electrical Engineering and eligible sub-stream combinations mapped by the CEN.
Electronics & Allied
Electronics, Instrumentation & Control, Communication, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT and eligible streams.
Civil & Allied
Civil Engineering, eligible Civil sub-streams and three-year B.Sc. Civil Engineering where prescribed.
The CEN accepts a three-year Diploma in Engineering across engineering disciplines for DMS. Candidates whose eligible qualification does not appear in the JE discipline chart must choose one of the listed exam groups as instructed by the CEN.
Qualification Alone Is Not Enough — Your Post Has a Railway Medical Standard
Different posts under CEN 04/2026 carry medical standards including A-3, B-1 and C-1. Visual standards can differ by post, and candidates found medically unsuitable for an opted post are not given an alternative appointment under the CEN.
Check Medical & Post Suitability →Eligible? Now Check What the RRB Portal Actually Makes You Upload
RRB JE 2026 uses a live photograph, a separate signature upload, and a conditional SC/ST certificate PDF for the free-travel facility.
Choose posts only after checking both Annexure A and the medical standard. A qualification can make you academically eligible while the prescribed Railway medical requirement can still affect your suitability for that post.
What Do You Actually Upload for RRB JE 2026?
RRB JE/DMS 2026 does not use the usual passport-photo upload workflow. Your photograph is captured LIVE on the RRB portal, while your signature is uploaded separately. SC/ST candidates claiming the free-travel facility also have a conditional certificate PDF requirement.
Live Photograph
Candidates are not required to upload an existing passport photograph. The application portal captures your live image using a webcam or mobile front camera.
- Camera around eye level
- Face the camera directly
- Neutral expression
- Entire face clearly visible
- No cap, mask or spectacles
- Prefer dark/non-white clothing
Candidate Signature
The signature must be your own, clear, completely visible and written in running/cursive handwriting. Block letters, capital letters and disjointed lettering are not accepted.
✍ QUICKPDFNOW FLAGSHIP TOOL Prepare RRB JE Signature 30–49 KB • JPG/JPEG • Min 140×60 px →SC/ST Certificate
SC/ST candidates requesting the free Railway travel facility must upload their caste certificate during the application.
The certificate must be latest and valid on the application closing date. This upload is not required from every applicant.
A Correct File Size Is Not Enough
The CEN lists several signature problems that can make the application liable for rejection.
Prepare the File First. Upload It Only After You Verify It.
Most Certificates Are Not Normal Application Uploads
The online application mainly requires the signature and the conditional SC/ST travel certificate upload. Educational, reservation, NOC and other applicable originals are primarily important for later verification stages.
Files Ready? The Next Risk Is the Application Workflow Itself
One RRB, post preferences, qualification details, live photo, successful fee payment and final review all matter before your application is complete.
Open the prepared signature once before uploading it. A file can technically satisfy the KB limit while still being blurry, cropped or incomplete. Check the actual image visually, not just the file size.
RRB JE 2026 Has Two CBTs — But CBT-II Carries the Real Technical Weight
The recruitment moves through CBT-I → CBT-II → Document Verification → Medical Examination → Empanelment. CBT-I is primarily a screening stage, while CBT-II includes 100 marks of Technical Abilities and plays the central role in later merit and shortlisting.
Common Screening Test
150 Marks — 100 From Technical Abilities
Clearing the Minimum Mark Is Not the Same as Being Shortlisted
These are minimum qualifying percentages. Actual progression depends on merit, normalized performance, community-wise vacancies and the RRB's shortlisting process.
Why RRB JE Needs More Than Just Raw Marks
When a CBT is held in multiple sessions, raw marks are converted to normalized marks. Because candidates from different technical exam groups may compete for common posts, the CEN also uses a Merit Index to create a common relative benchmark across disciplines.
The Merit Index provides a comparable score rather than simply comparing raw marks from different exam groups.
There Is No Interview Stage in CEN 04/2026
Selection proceeds through the two CBT stages, Document Verification and Medical Examination before empanelment and Railway allotment.
Understand the Pattern First — Then Study the Right Syllabus
The lifecycle gives you the structure. The detailed guides explain section weightage, normalization and all four technical syllabus groups.
Exams Are Only Half the Journey — Your Category Documents and Medical Fit Still Matter
Next, understand the fee/refund system, EBC vs EWS vs OBC-NCL, Document Verification requirements and the rules that affect final empanelment.
Do not prepare for CBT-II as if all 150 questions are equally important. Technical Abilities alone contribute 100 of the 150 marks, so first confirm your correct exam group and then use the discipline-specific syllabus in Annexure VIII.
Before RRB JE Ends at the Medical Stage, These Details Can Still Decide Your Candidature
Fee payment, reservation claims, certificate validity, original documents and medical fitness all matter beyond the application form. A successful submission does not permanently confirm eligibility.
Who Pays ₹500 and Who Pays ₹250?
Payment is accepted online only through supported options such as internet banking, debit card, credit card or UPI.
The Refund Depends on Actually Attending CBT-I
The CEN ties refund to an Aadhaar-seeded bank account. Aadhaar validation is used during the application workflow to identify or confirm the linked bank account.
EBC, EWS and OBC-NCL Mean Different Things in RRB JE 2026
The notification explicitly distinguishes these categories. Selecting the wrong one or relying on the wrong certificate can affect fee concession or reservation.
Fee Concession Category
Family income below ₹50,000EBC under this CEN is primarily for examination-fee concession. It does not by itself provide job reservation.
Reservation Category
Income + asset criteria applyFor CEN 04/2026, the relevant income financial year is 2025–26. A valid Income & Asset Certificate is required as prescribed.
Central Reservation Category
Central OBC list mattersA caste appearing only in a State OBC list does not automatically qualify for OBC-NCL reservation under this CEN.
Reservation Details Entered Online Must Be Supported Later by Originals
It must not be later than the application closing date and must follow the prescribed Central Government/RRB format. The candidate must also submit the prescribed self-declaration at DV.
Certificate details are entered during application, while the valid original certificate is required during Document Verification.
The applicable EBC certificate, BPL card, Izzat MST or other prescribed proof must satisfy the CEN's validity rules.
16–25 September 2026
Submitted application details can be modified during the prescribed window on payment of ₹250 per modification occasion.
26–30 September 2026
Eligible candidates who opted for a scribe must provide the registered scribe's OTR details and complete the prescribed OTP confirmation during this separate window.
When RRB Calls You for DV, Originals Matter — Not Just What You Typed Online
Candidates shortlisted after CBT-II must produce the applicable original certificates. The CEN does not promise extra time if originals are not produced on the scheduled verification date.
Shortlisted candidates serving in applicable Central/State Government, Railway or PSU employment must produce the required NOC at Document Verification.
Passing CBT-II Does Not Override Railway Medical Standards
Final empanelment depends on successful Document Verification and the prescribed Railway medical examination. If a candidate is medically unsuitable for an opted post, the CEN does not provide an alternative appointment for that post.
Do not claim a category first and search for the certificate later. Before final submission, verify that your certificate type, issuing date, format and reservation status actually satisfy CEN 04/2026.
