UPPSC PCS 2026 Exam Structure at a Glance
The UPPSC PCS selection process has three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination and Personality Test. Candidates must qualify each stage to move forward in the recruitment process.

UPPSC PCS Prelims Syllabus
The UPPSC PCS Preliminary Examination has two compulsory objective-type papers. Each paper carries 200 marks and has a duration of two hours. Candidates must appear in both papers; Paper II is qualifying with a minimum requirement of 33%, while Prelims merit is determined from Paper I marks.

UPPSC PCS Mains Syllabus
The UPPSC PCS Mains Examination is a written examination. It includes General Hindi, Essay and six General Studies papers. All papers are conventional type, and each paper has a duration of three hours.

General Studies I
Covers Indian culture, modern Indian history, freedom struggle, post-independence consolidation, world history, society, geography and related topics.
General Studies II
Covers Indian Constitution, governance, federal structure, Parliament and legislatures, judiciary, executive, public policy, welfare schemes and international relations.
General Studies III
Covers economy, planning, budgeting, agriculture, food processing, infrastructure, science and technology, environment, disaster management and internal security.
General Studies IV
Covers ethics, human values, attitude, aptitude, emotional intelligence, public service values, probity in governance and case studies.
General Studies V
