What should CLAT 2027 candidates do now?
The current priority is not the admit card or counselling. Candidates should first verify eligibility, prepare the exact application information and documents, review the fee and complete the form well before the deadline.
Verify 10+2 marks, appearing status and age-limit rules.
Verify LL.B. marks, appearing status and admission proof.
Organise photograph, signature, details and certificates.
Keep LL.B. details and applicable certificates ready.
Follow the verified JPEG/PNG and background rules.
Review category fee, additional paper cost and charges.
Saving the application is not the same as submitting it
Candidates can save the CLAT 2027 form and return later. However, the application remains incomplete until the required sections, uploads, declarations, online payment and final submission have been completed.
Do not publish predicted dates for the admit card, answer key, result or counselling. Add exact dates only after the Consortium issues the relevant CLAT 2027 notice.
Complete the form several days before the deadline so there is time to validate the email, review reservation selections, replace an unclear upload and resolve a payment-status problem.
CLAT 2027 Eligibility Criteria
CLAT UG and CLAT PG have separate qualifying-examination and percentage requirements. Both programmes have no upper age limit, and candidates appearing in their qualifying examination during 2027 may apply subject to producing proof of passing at admission.
Based on the CLAT 2027 eligibility and application instructions.
Who is eligible for CLAT 2027?
For CLAT UG 2027, candidates must have passed 10+2 or an equivalent examination with at least 45% marks, or 40% for SC, ST and PwD candidates.
For CLAT PG 2027, candidates must hold an LL.B. degree or equivalent qualification with at least 50% marks, or 45% for SC, ST and PwD candidates. There is no upper age limit for either programme.
CLAT UG vs CLAT PG Eligibility
The programme selected in the application should match the candidate’s qualifying examination. Requests to change the programme are not entertained after submission and payment.
| Eligibility Condition | CLAT UG 2027 | CLAT PG 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| Admission route | Five-year integrated law programmes | LL.M. programmes |

CLAT UG 2027 Eligibility
CLAT UG is the admission examination for five-year integrated law programmes offered through participating institutions.
The candidate must have passed the recognised senior-secondary examination or an accepted equivalent qualification.
The required score may be expressed as marks or an equivalent grade under the relevant examination system.
The reduced minimum applies only when the candidate belongs to and can support the relevant category.
The official CLAT UG 2027 eligibility criteria do not prescribe an upper age limit.
Class 12 candidates appearing in March or April 2027 may apply
They must produce evidence of passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission. Failure to produce the required proof makes the candidate ineligible for admission.
CLAT PG 2027 Eligibility
CLAT PG is used for admission to LL.M. programmes offered by participating institutions with postgraduate intake.
The candidate must have passed an LL.B. degree or an officially accepted equivalent law qualification.
The candidate must meet the prescribed marks or equivalent-grade requirement in the qualifying law degree.
The category-based minimum applies only when the relevant eligibility and documentary conditions are satisfied.
The official CLAT PG 2027 criteria do not impose an upper age restriction.
Use the prescribed appearing-candidate entries in the PG form
A candidate appearing for the LL.B. examination in 2027 should select Appearing/Appeared, choose June 2027 as the passing month and year, and leave the percentage field blank.
Who Can Appear for CLAT 2027?
Examination eligibility and admission under NRI, NRI-sponsored or foreign-national seats are different questions.
Indian nationals satisfying the relevant UG or PG eligibility criteria may appear for CLAT 2027.
NRIs seeking admission to UG or PG programmes may appear for the examination, subject to the applicable admission rules.
Candidates must consult the relevant NLU brochure and website. The Consortium does not allot seats under these categories.
Foreign nationals do not appear for CLAT and must approach the relevant participating institution directly for admission.
There is no single universal CLAT reservation table
The application form displays separate reservation questions for participating institutions. Applicable categories are partly selected from the candidate’s profile, while additional domicile, resident, defence, migrant or institution-specific claims may need to be selected NLU by NLU.
A candidate should claim an additional reservation only after checking the eligibility conditions in the relevant NLU brochure and confirming that valid documentary proof can be produced.
Review Participating NLUs and Admission Rules →All India category, gender, nationality and PwD status can affect automatically selected reservation options.
State domicile, resident status and special categories vary by participating institution.
Selecting an unsupported category can create disqualification or removal from that reservation category.
Admission remains dependent on merit, preference, seat availability, eligibility and document verification.
Disability reservation and compensatory time are separate benefits
The reservation claim requires a valid disability certificate issued by a competent authority.
For the two-hour CLAT examination, eligible candidates receive forty additional minutes.
The extended timing applies to eligible PwD candidates under the official instructions.
Candidates should follow the applicable certificate and official assistance instructions.
Submitting the CLAT form does not create a right to admission
Admission remains subject to the candidate meeting the minimum qualification, percentage, category and institution-specific conditions, as well as successful verification of original documents by the allotted institution.
- Application information must match certificates and records.
- Appearing candidates must prove that they passed before admission.
- Reservation claims must be supported by valid documents.
- NLUs may apply their own intake, reservation and fee policies.
Confirm the programme and category before fee payment. The official instructions state that the programme, category and BPL field cannot be changed after the application is submitted and paid.
How to Apply for CLAT 2027
The CLAT UG and PG application forms follow the same five-section structure. Candidates first verify their mobile number, log in, validate their email address and then complete Personal Information, Communication Details, Qualifying Examination Details, Test Centre Preferences and NLU-wise Reservation.
The main form structure is the same for both programmes.
What is the CLAT 2027 application process?
To apply for CLAT 2027, verify your mobile number through OTP, log in to the official portal, validate your email address and complete the five application sections. Upload the photograph, signature and applicable certificates, review NLU-specific reservation claims, complete the declarations, pay the online fee and finally submit the form.
Candidates can save the form and return later. However, the application is not complete until the fee has been paid and the form has been finally submitted.
CLAT 2027 Application Steps
The numbered flow below follows the order candidates encounter on the official registration and application portal.
Register using a personal mobile number and complete OTP validation.
Use the registered mobile number and password to open the dashboard.
Complete the email-validation requirement shown in the account.
Upload images and enter identity, category, PwD and BPL details.
Enter correspondence, permanent-address and alternate contact details.
Enter 10+2 details for UG or LL.B. details for PG.
Select the available examination-city preferences in order.
Review every institution-specific domicile and special-category claim.
Confirm the truthfulness of the information and choose consent options.
Check all entries and continue later if the form is not ready.
Complete the category-based fee payment through the online gateway.
Confirm the submitted status and preserve the application record.
Verify the Mobile Number, Log In and Validate Email
The application begins with mobile-number verification for both UG and PG. An OTP is sent to the registered mobile number. After validation, candidates log in using that mobile number and the password created during registration.
The candidate dashboard separately displays an option to validate the registered email address. Mobile and email access should be preserved throughout the application, examination and admission lifecycle.
Official notifications are sent to this number, so it should remain active and accessible.
The mobile number and password are used to reopen the saved application.
Complete the validation prompt shown on the candidate dashboard.
The application does not need to be completed or paid for in one sitting.
Complete the Five CLAT 2027 Application Sections
UG and PG use the same five broad form sections. The major difference is the qualifying examination entered in Section 3.
Personal Information
Upload the photograph and signature, then complete the identity and applicant-profile fields exactly as shown in the relevant certificates and records.
The applicant’s and parent’s names should be entered exactly as they appear in certificates, marksheets and identity proof.
Communication Details
Enter both correspondence and permanent addresses, along with alternate contact details that can be used if the primary communication route becomes unavailable.
Qualifying Examination Details
This is the principal verified difference between the two application forms. UG candidates enter 10+2 or equivalent details, while PG candidates enter LL.B. or equivalent details.
Enter the board, status, passing month, passing year and percentage applicable to the senior-secondary qualification.
Enter the university, appearing/passed status, passing month, passing year and percentage for the law degree.
Select Appearing/Appeared, choose June 2027 as the passing month and year, and leave the percentage field blank.
Test Centre Preferences
Select examination-city preferences carefully. A selected city is a preference rather than an absolute guarantee of allotment.
The Consortium may cancel a city or centre and shift candidates to another location where operational circumstances require it.
NLU-Wise Reservation
The form displays participating institutions individually. Default reservation options are selected from profile fields, while additional domicile, resident, defence, migrant and other categories must be reviewed institution by institution.
Applying under a reservation category does not guarantee a seat. Unsupported claims may lead to removal from that category or affect candidature.
Prepare the Photograph, Signature and Certificates
Both UG and PG candidates use the same official photograph and signature instructions. Applicable category, PwD and BPL certificates are uploaded as PDF documents.
Check Photo & Signature Requirements →Recent, front-facing photograph with a light background.
No exact KB or pixel limit publishedBlack or blue signature shown against a white background.
No exact KB or pixel limit publishedUpload the applicable category, PwD or BPL certificate.
Maximum verified after loginReview the fields that become locked after submission
Candidates may edit the saved application before final submission. Once the form has been submitted and paid, the official instructions do not permit changes to the programme, category or BPL field.
UG and PG cannot be interchanged after payment.
Review the All India category before paying the fee.
Confirm the selected status and supporting-document availability.
Check every NLU-specific selection against documentary proof.
Payment alone is not the final application record
Review the application, complete all declarations, pay the applicable fee and confirm the final submitted status. Preserve the application number, submitted form and payment record.
Confirm These Before Final Submission
Use the save-and-return facility while collecting information, but do not leave payment and final submission until the last day. A saved draft is not a completed CLAT 2027 application.
CLAT 2027 Documents, Photo and Signature Requirements
CLAT UG and PG candidates should prepare the application information, photograph, signature and category-related certificates before opening the form. The same official image instructions apply to both programmes, while the qualifying-examination records differ.
Image instructions and the 1.5 MB PDF limit were checked after candidate login.
What documents are required for CLAT 2027?
CLAT 2027 candidates need a recent front-facing photograph, their signature and the applicable SC, ST, OBC, PwD or BPL certificate. The photograph and signature must be uploaded in JPEG or PNG format, while certificates must be uploaded in PDF format up to 1.5 MB each.
UG candidates should keep their 10+2 details ready, while PG candidates should keep their LL.B. details ready. Original certificates are required later by the allotted institution in the form and manner it specifies.

CLAT 2027 Exam Pattern and Syllabus
CLAT UG and CLAT PG are both two-hour, 120-mark objective examinations with 120 multiple-choice questions and negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer. Their subjects, passage types and skills tested are different.
Question count, marks, duration, negative marking and syllabus areas are based on the official CLAT 2027 portal.
What is the CLAT 2027 exam pattern?
CLAT 2027 is a two-hour offline examination with 120 multiple-choice questions carrying one mark each. A deduction of 0.25 marks applies for every incorrect answer.
CLAT UG covers English Language, Current Affairs including General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Techniques. CLAT PG is based on Constitutional Law and other mandatory LL.B. subjects.
CLAT UG vs CLAT PG Question Paper
The examination length and marking rules are common, but the academic content and skills tested differ significantly.
| Exam Feature | CLAT UG 2027 | CLAT PG 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum marks | 120 | 120 |
| Questions | 120 multiple-choice questions | 120 objective-type questions |
| Marks per question | 1 mark | 1 mark |
| Duration | 2 hours | 2 hours |
| Negative marking | 0.25 mark per wrong answer | 0.25 mark per wrong answer |
| Primary content | Five aptitude and reasoning sections | Constitutional Law and mandatory LL.B. subjects |
| Question style | Passage and information-based questions | Extracts from judgments, statutes and regulations |
CLAT UG 2027 Exam Pattern
The UG paper evaluates comprehension and reasoning abilities needed for legal education. It is designed as an aptitude and skills test, rather than a test of prior legal knowledge.
CLAT UG 2027 Subject-Wise Weightage
English Language
Approximately 450-word passages testing comprehension, inference, conclusions, summarisation, comparison of viewpoints and contextual vocabulary.
Current Affairs including GK
Passages based on news and non-fiction sources covering events, arts and culture, international affairs and historically significant developments.
Legal Reasoning
Fact situations involving legal matters, public policy or moral questions, followed by application of the rules and principles stated in the passage.
Logical Reasoning
Recognition of arguments, premises and conclusions, evaluation of reasoning, inferences, analogies, contradictions and argument strength.
Quantitative Techniques
Numerical information requiring ratios, proportions, basic algebra, mensuration and statistical estimation at Class 10 level.
CLAT PG 2027 Exam Pattern
The PG paper tests comprehension of primary legal materials and the candidate’s awareness and application of the mandatory subjects studied in the undergraduate law programme.
How are CLAT PG questions framed?
Candidates are provided extracts from important court decisions, statutes or regulations. Questions test comprehension of the issues, arguments and viewpoints in the extract, awareness of related legal issues and facts, the ability to summarise the passage and the application of legal knowledge.
Both Papers Emphasise Comprehension, but in Different Ways
UG candidates solve passages built around language, current affairs, legal reasoning, logic and numerical information. PG candidates work with extracts from judgments, statutes and regulations.
Prior legal study is not required. The paper tests how candidates read, infer, compare, reason and apply information.
The paper expects familiarity with undergraduate law subjects and the ability to understand and apply legal principles.
Every Wrong Answer Deducts 0.25 Marks
The same marking rule applies to UG and PG. Correct answers receive one mark, while every incorrect answer reduces the raw score by one quarter of a mark.
Example: 80 correct and 16 incorrect answers produce a raw score of 76 marks before any further official processing.
Official Syllabus and Preparation Advice Must Remain Separate
Sections, question range, marks, duration, negative marking, passage style, law subjects and the abilities the paper evaluates.
Study order, revision plans, practice frequency, mock-test strategy and preparation priorities. These should never be presented as additional official syllabus rules.
Do not prepare for CLAT UG as a factual law examination. The official syllabus states that prior legal knowledge is not required for Legal Reasoning; candidates must identify and apply the principles stated in the passage.
CLAT 2027 Participating NLUs
The official CLAT 2027 portal lists 27 participating institutions and campuses. Candidates should compare programme availability, seat intake, reservation, domicile conditions, course structure and fees before making admission decisions.
Each institution has its own website and admission brochure.
How many NLUs participate in CLAT 2027?
The CLAT 2027 portal lists 27 participating institutions and campuses for admission through the Common Law Admission Test. Candidates must check the individual institution’s brochure because seat intake, reservation, domicile categories, programmes and fees are not identical across all NLUs.
Selecting or qualifying for CLAT does not itself guarantee admission. Admission remains subject to rank, programme availability, category, NLU preference, seat availability, eligibility and document verification.
Check More Than the NLU Name
The Consortium provides a common examination, but important admission conditions remain institution-specific.
Confirm that the institution offers the programme for which the candidate has applied.
Review state, resident, gender, PwD and special-category rules in the relevant brochure.
Fee structures differ by institution and may include separate academic, hostel or other charges.
A category or domicile claim must be supported in the form and manner prescribed by the institution.

A campus or institution appearing on the CLAT portal does not mean that every UG and PG programme, reservation category or seat type is identical. Review the current institution brochure before relying on any course, seat or fee assumption.
Reservation Is Selected NLU by NLU
The CLAT 2027 application does not use one universal reservation table for all institutions. Profile-based categories are selected from fields such as All India category, gender, nationality and PwD status.
The reservation section then asks separate questions for individual institutions, including state domicile, resident status and institution-specific special categories.
Applicable default categories can be generated from the candidate profile.
The candidate answers institution-specific state or residence questions.
A claim should not be selected unless valid documentary evidence can be produced.
Reservation remains subject to eligibility, merit, preferences, seats and verification.
State and Domicile Questions Vary by Institution
These examples show why candidates must not treat reservation as one common CLAT rule.
The form asks whether the candidate qualifies as a Karnataka student.
The form asks whether the candidate is a resident student of Telangana.
The form includes a separate Madhya Pradesh domicile question.
The candidate is asked whether West Bengal domicile is applicable.
The form separately asks whether state-level UP reservation is claimed.
The form asks whether the candidate wants to claim Bihar reservation.
Mumbai, Nagpur and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar use domicile questions.
The portal asks about domicile of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
Similar questions appear for Kerala, Odisha, Jharkhand, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Tripura, Goa and Meghalaya.
Some NLUs Display Additional Category Options
The appearance of a category in the portal does not establish that every candidate qualifies for it. Eligibility must be checked from the institution brochure and supported with prescribed proof.
Displayed as a default selected category for several institutions.
Available under institution-specific wording and conditions.
Shown by selected institutions and subject to their documentary rules.
Appears under different descriptions across selected institutions.
Shown as a special category by the relevant institution where applicable.
A specific category displayed for DBRANLU Haryana.
UG and PG Admission Must Be Checked Separately
The central institution list supports the CLAT ecosystem, but candidates should verify the exact programme and intake offered by each institution.
Five-Year Integrated Law Programmes
Check the exact integrated degree, seat intake, domicile policy, category distribution and fee structure in the institution’s UG brochure.
LL.M. Programmes
Confirm whether the institution offers PG admission, the LL.M. structure, seat intake, reservation and any specialisation-related information.
CLAT Rank and Application Submission Do Not Guarantee Admission
The official instructions state that seat allotment and admission offers are provisional. A candidate must continue satisfying the relevant eligibility, category, document and institution-specific conditions.
Admission depends on the candidate’s performance and merit position.
Allotment is affected by the candidate’s valid preference journey.
Institutions may change their total seats and category break-up.
Unsupported or mismatched claims can affect candidature or admission.
Compare the CLAT 2027 Participating NLUs
Use the dedicated guide for a structured institution list, locations, admission cautions and links to official brochures and websites.
Do not select every additional reservation option merely because it is visible in the form. First open the relevant NLU brochure, verify the eligibility definition and confirm that the required certificate or domicile proof can be produced.
Continue Your CLAT 2027 Journey
Use the official Consortium portal for registration, fee payment and submission. Use the QuickPDFNow guides to verify eligibility, prepare documents, understand the examination and move through the correct UG or PG route.
What should a CLAT 2027 candidate do next?
First choose the correct programme: CLAT UG for five-year integrated law admission or CLAT PG for LL.M. admission. Verify eligibility, prepare the required information and files, review the fee and then complete the application on the official Consortium portal.
After applying, study the correct UG or PG exam pattern and syllabus. Institution choice and reservation must be checked separately through the participating NLU brochures because admission rules are not identical across all institutions.
Use Official Links for Application and Admission Decisions
QuickPDFNow explains and prepares. The Consortium portal remains the authoritative route for registration, payment, official instructions and candidate login.
